Do you know where the game will be played, Grogan Park?
The Bearcats will travel to Gate City to take on the Blue Devils in JV Baseball next monday the 16th at 6pm. This should be a good ball game and a early look into the future of baseball in the Clinch Mountain District. These 8th and 9th graders from both teams have competed against each other since they were 7 and 8 year olds. They have had some great games in District 1 little league. This game will be interesting to see how the kids are progressing compared to each other. Also let me add that since these kids were little in all of the games that we have had the fan support has been great and good sportsmanship not only on the field but in the stands. So if you want to see a JV game played at a high level come watch this one.

I'm not sure since the the Varsity doesn't play at the school. Good question, I will try and find out since I will need to know.

Is Virginia High going to drop down five or six of their sophomores from varsity for this game like they normally do for the big games? If so, Va High should win easily.
The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.
Two of the starters are soph's, along with six freshmen and one eighth grader. The starting pitcher will probably be an eighth grader. The only two pitchers that have been used so far this year are a 9th and 8th grader. The center fielder and left fielder that are soph's get no playing time on varsity. The team has 10 8th graders, 9 9th graders and 3 sophmores one of which doesn't get any playing time.

I saw in an earlier post that GC had 9 8th graders and maybe one or two freshman.
The game will be played at Grogan Park...I think all home games for the JV are there. I agree, it should be a good one. A few of the kids that played for GC are no longer playing baseball, instead choosing to concentrate on basketball.
I sure hope they use the Clark boy to pitch for GC...if so..I think they will do just fine if not...then I hope they at least play their starters....that 2nd game against RC was the pits the other night...too many people not playing where they should....Good Luck GATE CITY JV boys...hope to be there!!!! The kids I know are the Carters, Kirk, Hughes, Arnold, the two Byrds, Pope. Are they playing? Is the Carter kid you mentioned that pitches the one that changes speeds well and has a good curve ball. If so yes I do agree he is a good one. Like I have said before they all are good kids. I'm also trying to remember who coached them when they came through Little League. Real nice guy but a competitor I think he is the Grandfather of Kirk, I may be wrong and I can picture his face but can't recall his name. They were a well coached team. the only problem they had was depth.
